For example: “I was nauseated by the stench of dead bodies as they were swept from the rail cars into the makeshift bunkers. I covered my face with part of my shirt to avoid the smell, but I was still going to be sick.”

Employ Fictional Elements

Even though memoirs are true stories, incorporating elements of fiction can make them more powerful.
